Course Outline

This club welcomes those who already possess basic ability who want to improve their uke skills through playing with other enthusiasts and learning new songs and techniques, all supported by experienced volunteer facilitator Bob Cater.

There is a relaxed and informal atmosphere to have a laugh and play a selection of ukulele tunes in a friendly, fun and supportive environment.

The ukulele, AKA uke, is a member of the lute family of instruments of Portuguese origin and popularized in Hawaii. The tone and volume of the instrument vary with size and construction. Ukuleles commonly come in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone.

The ukulele is great for learning music fundamentals. You can learn to play 100s of songs with just three chords! The sweet, mellow sound and relative ease of playing will encourage up and coming ukulele players to play beyond their first steps to develop skills that can be enjoyed for many years. It is very portable and relatively easy to play.

The group will be led by Robert (Bob) Cater, MBE, who has considerable experience of playing both guitar and ukulele having run many courses for local authorities.

Minimum Age: Please note that you must be aged 16 or over to enrol on this course.
