Botanical Textile Printing: Exploring Nature Through Hand-Printed Textiles

Overview

This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the art of botanical textile printing using leaves, flowers, and natural forms gathered from the local landscape and use of stencils.

Blending traditional printmaking techniques with contemporary textile practice, the session invites participants to explore composition, colour, and pattern while creating a set of hand-printed textiles to take home.

The workshop is suitable for beginners and those with creative experience. It emphasises slow, mindful making, environmental awareness, and appreciation of local flora.

What to bring

• Pencil
• Ruler
• Masking tape
• 3 selected colours of acrylic paint (small tubes of favourite colours)
• Apron
• Sketchbook
• Plants from the garden (flowers, grasses, leaves)

All other materials are provided by the tutor (please bring £7 cash materials fee on the day)

About the tutor

Justyna Medon is a printmaker, educator, and wallpaper conservator based in the Garw Valley. A 2022 QEST Scholar in Wallpaper Design & Conservation, she specialises in hand-printed textiles and wallpapers and historically informed surface design.

Justyna delivers workshops across Wales and the UK, known for her clear teaching style, technical expertise, and passion for sustainable, small-batch craft.
