Life Drawing Taster — An introduction to life drawing with Geraint Davies

Course Level: Beginners, but all stages welcome

About this course:

Increase your drawing confidence, improve your observational skills and explore your own individual creativity on our evening life drawing class. Using a professional life model, we’ll explore two approaches to drawing — the role of gesture to aid our understanding of what we see, and the simplification of the pose to construct and progress our drawing. Students will be given time to work through these techniques during the course.

What does the learner need to bring to the course?

To make the most of the course, please bring soft pencils (higher B range), charcoal, putty rubber, large pad and/or papers (pastel, cartridge, A2 or larger), and any favourite materials. White cartridge paper is available to buy from the college on the day (£1/A1 sheet).

Feel free to bring your own easel and board, although there are a number of these available to borrow on the day. Please bring your own clips/masking tape.

About Geraint Davies:

Geraint studied Foundation Art & Design at South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education (now Cardiff Metropolitan University) and graduated with a BA(Hons) Fine Art from Stourbridge College of Art and Wolverhampton University. He has exhibited locally, at Aberystwyth University School of Art Museum and Galleries and at the Richard Demarco Gallery in Edinburgh. Geraint’s working life has been in graphic design, photo-editing, illustration and commercial print.
