About the course

The people living in the Vale of Glamorgan and along the coast in the Iron Age were the richest and most powerful of the Welsh Celtic tribes before the Romans came.

The Silures of South Wales ruled from the Severn to the Gower and were fierce warriors, successful farmers and long-distance traders.

Find out more about the lives of these ancient people, their art, clothes, beliefs and celebrations, and the story of how they fought the Romans to a standstill and came out on top in the end. About the tutor

Ruth grew up in the Vale, studied at Cardiff University and now works for the Open University, bringing the past alive for adult learners, community groups and history lovers. She is an avid collector, researcher and speaker, and is always keen to find out something new!
